January 7, 2015. Blaming the Victim- “attracting bad stuff to you”  http://tobtr.com/s/7173203

It’s supposed to be empowering to let people know that what you think about comes to you: but doesn’t that seem like people who tell you that are telling you it’s your fault that your life is a piece of crap? Does that bother you? It drives me nuts!

On the one hand, I do believe that “power flows where attention goes”, but on the other hand, sometimes “shit happens” and when someone is suffering, the last thing they need is for people to ask them “why did you draw this into your life?”.

Can we talk about this? There is a balance somewhere between recognizing the way our thoughts create reality and the fact that there’s a reality out there that we have to deal with, but don’t control. What’s your perspective on this?

Please join me 8-9 pm est Wednesday. I would really love you to call in with any stories or questions or theories about this. Reality is probably

January 14, 2015 Psychometry http://tobtr.com/s/7192543

Psychometry is the first style of straight psychic reading I teach. Most people can do it, and it’s the stepping stone to scrying and other psychic skills.
Psychometry is the ability to get information from an object simply by touching it. Some information seems to get trapped in the energy field of the object which our minds seem to be able to read.
Wikipedia says:
“Joseph Rodes Buchanan coined the word “psychometry” (measuring the soul) in 1842. Buchanan came up with the idea that all things give off an emanation.
The Past is entombed in the Present! The world is its own enduring monument; and that which is true of its physical, is likewise true of its mental career. The discoveries of Psychometry will enable us to explore the history of man, as those of geology enable us to explore the history of the earth. There are mental fossils for psychologists as well as mineral fossils for the geologists; and I believe that hereafter the psychologist and the geologist will go hand in hand — the one portraying the earth, its animals and its vegetation, while the other portrays the human beings who have roamed over its surface in the shadows, and the darkness of primeval barbarism! Aye, the mental telescope is now discovered which may pierce the depths of the past and bring us in full view of the grand and tragic passages of ancient history ”

What is it. How does it work? And most importantly- how can we do it?

January 28, 2015  Weather Magick  http://tobtr.com/s/7225663

Providing I have power, I’ll be talking about Weather Magick- from prognostication, to how to control the weather. I’ll cover both traditional techniques and ones you can try now.
(If the storm does knock my power out, I’ll ask the producer to put on an old show about weather magick from the archives.) Please call in with any stories or questions: 619-639-4606

February 4, 2015 Dream Interpretation http://tobtr.com/s/7243299

I’ll be talking about Dreams and Dream Interpretation. You may remember the story of Joseph interpreting the Pharoh’s Dream in the Bible. The Egyptians had dream interpretation books, and so did the Tudors, and just about every literate culture in between. Cultures that weren’t literate probably also interpreted their dreams. These books are very culturally focused and they can work when the dreamer has internalized the culturally normal symbols.

However, while dreams can give you a great tool to self understanding, not all dreams are the same. Some may represent OOB (Out of Body Experiences), others telepathic communication or visits from “the other side”. Try to interpret those using a dream book and you’ll really get confused!

There are many types of dreams and I’ll try to cover as many of these as I can, and if you want to call in with a dream you’d like to interpret or if you want to share your techniques of dream interpretation, please call in: 619-639-4606

February 11, 2015 Numerology

Each number has it’s own “meaning” or set of correspondences, and we’ll cover the meanings of numbers and some basic techniques to explore what your name, (your legal name as opposed to your nickname) your birthdate, your address, and recurring numbers in your life can help you learn about yourself. Numerology teaches that if you change these (the changeable ones), you can improve their influences on your life.
Have you tried numerology before and found that it didn’t work? We’ll talk about Chaldean and Pythagorean systems, and you can see which works better for you.

February 18, 2015 Care and Feeding of Spirits http://tobtr.com/s/7366523

OK- we’ll assume that you believe in fairies, elves, brownies, ancestor spirits, but what do you do next? Who wouldn’t love a house wight or hob who’ll help with the housework? Who doesn’t want to stay on the good side of whoever keeps hiding the tools you need and make them pop back in when you give up on them? But what do you do if you live in an apartment? You have no hearth, no well? Can you attract a spirit, and if so, will it be friendly? Will it be strong enough to manifest any help for you?

Let’s talk about how we interact with spirits, and do they need us as much as we need them? Aside from that, if you ask a friend for help who only ever approaches you when they want help, and never just shares a meal just for friendship sake, would they want to help you?

How often does one set out a bit of milk, honey or porridge for a brownie- annually, weekly, daily? Do you leave offerings at springs, rocks, or trees nearby? Do you “feed” your hearth spirit, your door spirit, or other spirits that you may sometimes hope for help from? This is the week the ancient Romans honored their ancestors at the feast of Parentalia; they offered a little meal and drink. Brownies were fond of porridge with butter and honey. Other spirits liked other things. Fairies like sugar and sparkle. Others like tobacco or alcohol. Coins are left at crossroads, sometimes stacked stones. What do we leave, or do, and why?

Other spirits (poltergeists) we may not want around, how do we avoid attracting those or get rid of them?

February 25, 2015  50 Shades of Stupid- Love Spells http://tobtr.com/s/7387349

Why does it seem that so many people don’t seem to understand what love is, much less what a love spell is for? My guest is Kerensa has many storys about love spells gone wrong and how to avoid falling into some of the same traps.
Kerensa was brought up to Shamanism, he’s a witch and artist who makes magickal as well as non-magickal perfumes and artwork for discerning clients in both sides. But between us we have many tales of friends and clients who have tried using magick to fill the real and human need for affection. Want love? We’ve got no problem with that, and may have some advice that could help. But there’s nothing like the discussions sparked by the recent movie to get to the core of the matter.

March 4, 2015. Shielding and Psychic Protection  http://tobtr.com/s/7409997

Please join me, Tchipakkan, on the New Normal 8 pm Wednesday, 3-3-15, 8-9 p.m. eastern time when we’ll talk about Shields. Your aura is your energy body (or bodies, it seems to consist of layers) and these energies interact with the energies of the world around you. Just as you can absorb nutrition, or toxins through your skin, you can absorb energy through your aura, and that has an impact on the way you feel, think and even your physical body. We often want to block out unwanted energy, especially when we can feel them hurting us. But how? There are many techniques, from using charms made of various stones and herbs, to energetic techniques that can block, repel, reflect, or transform the energy around us. Not every technique is suitable for every situation or person, so we want to explore several so listeners can find whichever one they need.

March 11, 2015  Witches in History http://tobtr.com/s/7426927

Cheryl Costa was raised roman catholic, became a witch in 1978.  She’s initiated in the Alexsanderian tradition and cross initiated a handful of small electric traditions. She’s a former ordained Tibetan Orthodox Buddhist Nun and currently an ordained Ngakma yogi.

There has never been a period or culture in which magick was not done, although it’s been disreputable in many. Let’s face it, if someone can do something you can’t explain, it’s going to make people nervous that maybe you can do anything. If you can heal them, can’t you make them sick? If you can predict the future, can’t you influence it, or maybe take unfair advantage? If you’re clairvoyant or have telepathy, can you be trusted to not know their secrets? These insecurities, and general poor understanding of how this stuff works has generated a lot of fear about psychics and magick users over the years.

In the second half of the 20th century, Wiccans and Feminists embraced the name “witch” to empower women and rehabilitate the term. While the public enjoyed fictional witches from Samantha to Sabrina to the Halliwell sisters, women like Lori Cabot, Starhawk and others have been “on the ground” helping others become witches. The image of the “successful witch” has combined with that of author and public speaker, but the vast majority are still only known to be witches among friends. “What a witch is” is going to be different depending upon whether you’re in a family tradition, strega, Gardnerian, Reclaiming, or any of dozens of other types of witchcraft. There are huge differences, and yet have many things in common.

If you are a witch or magick user, and want to call in and comment, please do. 619-639-4606 between 8 and 8:45

March 18, 2015. Oops is Not a Word of Power, Starwolf http://tobtr.com/s/7449799

Last September, Starwolf appeared on Tchipakkan’s “The New Normal” for a show called “Oops Is NOT A Word of Power”, talking about times when magick goes horribly (or just comically) wrong. We had so much fun with this that we’re gonna follow it up with another session on mystical mishaps.

Next Wed 3/18/15 from 8 pm to 900, join Starwolf and Tchipakkan on the New Normal on your computer at http://liveparanormal.com/ as we talk about the less than perfect side of mystical practice. (“How not to shoot yourself in the foot” is another title I considered.)

For every seeker along a mystical path there are “Moments” when things do not quite go as planned. Starwolf and Tchipakkan will share some of theirs, along with advice on how to avoid such mistakes yourself.

March 25, 2015. Divination (& Mike Nolan, Magical Marketplace)

I’m going to be talking about my “unified field theory” of divination, from turning cards, to reading palms, to interpreting the paths of astral bodies, millions of miles away or sticks or stones tossed on the table in front of you, to chickens scratching piles of corn, to birds flying, to candles dripping…. how can we know what’s going to happen? What’s the difference between prediction and prophesy? Intuition, message from another entity, or reading heads or tails? What’s the psychology part of parapsychology? What’s the physics of metaphysics? To a certain extent some of this is personal theory (based on having studied divination for over half a century), and some will be what others have said in the last two or three millennia.

Feel free to call in with questions, or share your own theories on divination. I’ll also be mentioning some of the many forms it takes, and I’d love to hear about new ones if you’ve come up with something I may not have heard before. Call 619-639-4606 between 8:05 and 8:50, or join us in the chatroom at www.liveParanornal.com

I’m also expecting a call from Mike Dolan sharing information about the Magickal Marketplace Saturday in Nashua NH! You can ask him questions too.

April 1, 2015. Poltergeist http://tobtr.com/s/7489779

For April Fools we’re going to talk about Poltergeists. The world is German for “noisy ghost” and refers to phenomenon when inexpliable sounds and movement of objects is present. The subject should give us opportunity to discuss a range of related topics from the developmental nature of psychic phenomena (Poltergeist activity has been closely linked to puberty in at least one of the people present), as well as fraud in some of these cases, and other possible explanations. This IS Live Paranormal, so we’ll also cover the paranormal explanations like telekinesis as well. We hope that there will be calls with some stories, even inexplicable happenings. If not, there are enough historical examples to fill several hours, much less one.

April 8, 2015.  Folk Magic and Medicine, Jane Sibley http://tobtr.com/s/7508279

Way of the Wise: Traditional Norwegian Folk and Magic Medicine, as well as The Devine Thunderbolt, and other books.

We’ll talk about some of the more interesting (bizarre sounding) techniques and some we can still use today. From herbalism to energy medicine, before there were doctors and hospitals (and sometimes even after they became the dominant practitioners) what was important was not the mechanism by which you were healed, but whether the remedy worked. We may talk about some of the theories about the mechanisms: from the chemical properties of the herbs and tools used, to the help from beings: from elves, and ancestors, and plant spirits to saints, but expect a lot of interesting examples and stories of folk and magic remedies our ancestors used and trusted.

April 15, 2015. Mockingbird Crooked Man Lore  http://tobtr.com/s/7526657

the Lore of the Crooked Man.

Do you remember the nursery rhyme:

“There was a Crooked Man and he walked a crooked mile,

he found a crooked sixpence against a crooked style,

he bought a crooked cat

who caught a crooked mouse,

and they all lived together in a little crooked house.”

Not just a fun rhyme to share with children, but it (as well as many other folk tales and nursery rhymes, carries secret metaphysical lore hidden in the familiar images.

Some say that Mother Goose rhymes contain hidden lore of ancient pre-Christian mystery traditions. Mockingbird is going to share his interpretation of how the symbolism in the poem reveal powerful secrets of ancient sages, hidden in a children’s poem.

Francis Braunlich was born in 1943, or Mockingbird was born in a sacred circle 19??

April 22, 2015.  When Witches came out of the Closet, Cheryl Costa http://tobtr.com/s/7547707

Guest Cheryl Costa on the New Normal Wednesday, April 22nd at 8 pm edt on http://www.LiveParanormal.com.  Cheryl will be telling us about her documentary “When Witchcraft Came Out of the Broom Closet”.

Cheryl Costa is a writer, playwright, and theater, television, and movie producer. She also has had a technical career in internet security. She recently was awarded a Bachelor’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Entertainment Writing and Production from Empire State College, a State University of New York institution. April 29, 2015 Complementary and Alternative Medicine Selina Rifkin

Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), which is what we call it when we use both modern and “non-traditional” (although they usually really are traditional) techniques. We will NOT be giving out any medical diagnosis or recommendations, but we will be talking about this fascinating subject and you may get some ideas you may want to use.

Alternative medicine is healing done outside of modern medicine, but is not founded on evidence gathered using the scientific method. It consists of a wide range of health care practices, products and therapies. Examples include new and traditional medicine practices such as homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, energy medicine, various forms of acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, and Christian faith healing. The treatments are those that are not part of the conventional, science-based healthcare system. (Wikipedia definition). Personally, I think it’s bad science to reject something that works because it doesn’t fit into your world-view.

Selina Rifkin, L.M.T., M.S. is a graduate of Temple University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In 1998 she graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in Maine where she specialized in sports massage. Since then, she has studied Active Isolated Stretching, and Cranio-Sacral therapy. She has published articles in Massage Therapy Journal, been a health columnist for the Harpswell Anchor, and published The Referral Guide for Complementary Care, a book that describes 25 different healing modalities. She is licensed as a massage therapist in both Maine and Connecticut.

In 2006 she completed her Master’s program in Nutrition through Westbrook University with a focus on traditional foods, and the work of Weston A. Price. In 2007, she achieved her Master level in Reiki. She believes in a holistic approach to healing and is happy to be able to offer her clients a personalized approach that addresses individual needs.

May 6, 2015. Animal Symbolism JoAnn Abbot http://tobtr.com/s/7594899

JoAnn started reading and collecting fairy tales from a very early age, and loved to read her mothers and grandmothers old copies of The Grimm Brothers fairy tales, Hans Christian Anderson and any other fairy tale from around the world she could get her hands on. In High School, her German teacher introduced her to Bruno Bettelheims “The Uses of Enchantment”, a Freudian/ Jungian psychological interpretation of fairy tales, which she found fascinating. She has since gone on to collect fairy and folk tale books translated into English from Russian, Scandinavia, Africa, south and Central America, Japan and throughout Europe. She has taken classes in college as well as at Pennsic University from other lovers of the genre.

JoAnn Abbott will be sharing what different beasts mean in the stories we tell each other, & may not understand what we are telling. Love folklore? Call in with questions or be part of the live chat happening during every show? JoAnn Abbott

May 7, 2015. Pagan Seminary Education Selina Rifkin http://tobtr.com/s/7613391

We’ll be talking about what a seminary based education has to offer Pagan clergy of all types and what Cherry Hill Seminary in particular has to offer all Pagans.

We’ll also talk about Cherry Hill Seminary, where Selina is a teacher- a great resourse!

May 13, 2015.  Designing Tarot Spreads http://tobtr.com/s/7632153

We’ll be exploring the Tarot and how to create new spreads.

Once you’ve learned the basic Celtic Cross, past-present-future, life readings, thesis-antithesis-synthesis, or which ever spreads you start with, you wonder what next? If the key to a good reading is asking the right question, how do you know what questions to ask? How do you design a good reading for the challenge facing you?

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of tarot spreads out there, and I’ll tell you about some of the more interesting ones I’ve encountered. Love, money, business decisions, spiritual path, the weather, you name it, the tarot can give insight.

May 20, 2015.  Remote Psychic Surgery Maureen McElroy http://tobtr.com/s/7649203

We’ll be exploring the Tarot and how to create new spreads.

May 27, 2015 Maureen McElroy Remote Psychic Surgery

Please join Tchipakkan and Maureen McElroy on the New Normal 8 pm Wednesday, May 27th, 2015, 8-9 p.m. edt. We’ll be exploring the topic of Remote Psychic Surgery, (and the nature of reality).

Bio Maureen is an empath, dowser and remote psychic surgeon (among other amazing activities). She works with six archangels, and spirit tigers. I’ll be asking about her healing, working with these spirit companions, as well as effecting things at a distance. Her abilities started to manifest when she was 13, and she’s been doing healings for 16 years, and I’m looking forward to learning lots of new stuff.

If you just want to listen (while doing other stuff on your computer), you can open a window on your computer to http://www.Liveparanormal.com, click the “Listen Live and Chat” listing under the “radio-listen/chat room” heading, and click “LISTEN HERE” next to “the New Normal”.

June 3, 2015. Problems with Runes, Jane Sibley http://tobtr.com/s/7668799

Jane Sibley (Ph.D., traditional Norse practitioner, specialist in Norse folklore and runes).  Jane is an expert on the historical- and the practical- uses of Runes. She was taught the ancient arts of rune-casting, seidhr, healing, and other Norwegian magickal arts by her grandmother in direct line transmission, and has added to this with extensive study of history and folklore. This week I’ve asked her to indulge in some of her annoyance with some of the sillier and possibly dangerous misinterpretations of the runes she’s encountered as she has studied them (she’s hoping to finish her book on the runes sometime in the next year). I’ve heard her mention being frustrated by much of the sillier additions to rune lore in the last century (and rather cross about some of the Nazi insertions). It should make an interesting conversation.

June 10, 2015. Omens Signs and Portents Cathrine Kane http://tobtr.com/s/7688081

Did you know  that Signs are for everyone, where as Omens are personal? An omen presages the birth of an exceptional person, whereas a sign predicts something that’s going to happen for the community. Or, at least that’s what I read recently. Of course, even if that used to be true, the language may not be used that  where you live.

Wednesday night (6/10/15), Catherine Kane will be talking with Tchipakkan about Omens, Signs and Portents from 8-9 pm on the New Normal on http://liveparanormal.com/

We’ll be talking about signs and omens; about how the universe is sending you messages and how you can learn to receive those messages and benefit from them. Cathy even has techniques for how you can request a sign, and actively receive answers to your questions.

When I think of requesting and getting a sign, I think of the scene in the old movie Wagon’s East where the group keeps rejecting signs “It’s just wind, Phil”, until lighting comes down and strikes the weathervane: “Now that’s a sign!” In our family we say that “if the Gods tap you on your shoulder and clear their throats, pay attention, because if you don’t, they will haul out the Celestial 2×4”. This and other stories and theories should make it an interesting hour.

June 24, 2015. Tulpas, Thoughtforms, Phantoms and Apparitions http://tobtr.com/s/7725051

Tulpa is a Tibetan word for a a created entity. Other descriptions include phantom, doppleganger, apparition, and Thought- form. Many energy working systems teach people how to create energetic beings or servants. While investigating séances, a Canadian group of Parapsychologists created a “ghost” called Phillip in the 1970s. Some apparitions are also created inadvertently in times of high stress- examples include those times when a doppleganger or double of a person is seen somewhere else at the moment of their death, or an accident.

Energy is the essence of life, and when energy is poured into an inanimate object, an entity sometimes is born in that object. A recent example is the Aibo – robotic pet dogs, or more commonly, although they don’t move- Teddy bears. I refer to this as the Velveteen Rabbit Phenomena.

July 1, 2015. Pagan mini Rituals http://tobtr.com/s/7743087

This week Tchipakkan will be talking adapting traditional rituals for modern neopagans. There are things you can do to keep the entities around house and garden in a good mood, Small rites that can be incorporated into daily routines. This is not the Major Circles, or Holiday rituals, but the daily reverences that are quick and effective.

July 15, 2015 Medieval Myths  JoAnn Abbot  http://tobtr.com/s/7776513

We’ll be exploring the topic of Myths of the Middle Ages.

Some people think that mythology is simply the tales from dead religions, but the Middle Ages has a vast storehouse of myths, from werewolves, to dragons slain (or tamed) by Saints, and more. JoAnn Abbott is an actress, and amazing costumer, and special effects make-up artist, who I met in the Society for Creative Anachronism, a group where people like us can explore the interesting parts of medieval history. (while playing dress up, and getting our hands kissed). Love folklore? Call in with questions or be part of the live chat happening during every show!

August 12, 2015 Jane Sibley weather http://tobtr.com/s/7845065

A bit of technical difficulty at the start.

Jane T. Sibley, Ph.D., is a traditional Norse practitioner and a specialist in Norse folklore and  runes.  She has taught at many Pagan events for decades, MithraCon, a conference on Mithraism and other cults in the Roman Empire. August 19, 2015. Blackhawk and EVPs http://tobtr.com/s/7863141

Tchipakkan’s guest Blackhawk is an empath who has has left the modern world to live out in the woods. Among his interests he has made Electrovoice Phenomena recordings- which we hope will transfer from his recordings to the broadcast frequencies. While I’m excited to hear some of his EVP recordings, we may talk about reincarnation, or empathy, or pagan Christianity, and energy healing, and so many things he’s done during his lifetime. ghost at 29 megacycles

August 26, 2015. witchcraft before wicca http://tobtr.com/s/7880387

The modern Wiccan movement has done a great deal to combat religious discrimination against neo-pagans, and those who use magic, but there were Witches before there was Wicca- and no, they didn’t wear striped stockings and have green faces (I suppose they also didn’t wear fluffy pink and travel in bubbles either).(Sorry MGM).

As long as there have been people, and people have had psychic abilities, which is, as long as there have been people, there have been those who have been made distinctly uncomfortable as they wondered- what can they do? This is neither helped by secrecy, nor by the cultural forces, like the Christian Church, that urged secrecy. But I thought I’d talk a little about what witches were (and what people thought they were) like before Wicca created the image of a modern nature based mystery religion.

September 2, 2015. Maryalyce Merrit Akasha’s heart Crystal Skulls, healing http://tobtr.com/s/7898811

Maryalyce (aka Akasha’s Heart) has been practicing witchcraft and the magickal arts since 1994.  She is an ordained minister, priestess, ritualist, writer, teacher, and healer.  She is a member of the Hands On Trade Association, is a Reiki Master Instructor and Practitioner, Advanced Level IET Practitioner, RúnValdr Master (Instructor and Practitioner), and teacher of such things like reading Tarot and Medicine Cards, Introduction to Wicca, Introduction to Witchcraft, Witch-Crafting (making magickal tools), How to Organize/Construct/Lead Rituals, and others.  With her passion for just about all things esoteric, metaphysical, astrological, and deeply spiritual, she decided to follow her soul’s journey to feed, educate, and empower the world community.

This empowerment may come in the form of oracle readings for seekers, healing sessions, healing circles, or Reiki instruction among others.  As a dog lover, she extends this healing to not only dogs, but other animals and familiars as well.  Maryalyce is an ABCDT Certified Dog Trainer, and she and her rescued dog, Cody, are a registered (Delta Society) Pet Partner therapy team.  Akasha’s Journey has evolved from the same passion for magickal living and crafting tools and items for people and their pets to assist them on their own journeys.  Part of Maryalyce’s dream is to make healing & learning how to heal accessible to the community and the people who truly desire it, and of course, the beautiful animals who cannot ask for it themselves.
The joy is in the journey.  www.akashasjourney.com

September 23, 2015 Chris Kimball Modern Heathen Practice http://tobtr.com/s/7948957

In November Chris Kimball will be speaking at the Changing Times Changing Words Conference in Northampton Mass, but Wednesday night Tchipakkan will welcome him on the New Normal.
At the conference Chris will be presenting workshops on the heathen background to the Grimm fairy tales, how and why people can connect with the spirit of the forests, and the spirits that are even older than the gods. We will probably cover this and more.

Chris and his wife are modern heathens, and they have developed a modern version of heathen practice. We’ll be talking about the Húsel (rite) they’ve adapted to modern life. The adaptations allow modern heathens to bring appropriate thanks to the gods, within the constraints of modern culture- which they don’t give up. But it’s a challenge to live by old values when they aren’t built into daily life. We’ll be talking about how modern heathens- at least how Chris and his group, create practices that help them relate to their gods in ways consistent with both modern life and ancient thew.

Christopher Kimball is a National Council of Geocosmic Research certified level 1 Astrologer, published fantasy author of “Battle Priest” and “Succession Wars” and has been a member of the Connecticut Pagan community for more than twenty-five years. Currently he is a Anglo-Saxon Heathen and lives a varied and geminian life, having fought in the SCA, learned equestrianism and fencing, white-water canoed the Pine River in Michigan, piloted a research vessel in the Atlantic, hiked the Grand Canyon and the lower Colorado River and grown up in the woods and fields of rural New England. Chris has also hiked the farms and undeveloped land of Connecticut for the better part of the last 50 years and has been the Hike Master for the CWPN’s hikes.

September 30, 2015. Genise White Khemetic Paganism http://tobtr.com/s/7965675

Tchipakkan will be talking with Genise White, known in the magickal community as Lady AMber Dawn on many topics- she is a Khemetic practitioner- which is the proper name for the ancient Egyptian traditional religion. She also is a “priestess” in Haitian Voudoun, as well as studying Umbanda and in the Circle Sanctuary Ministry Training. She also is a Reiki Master, does Color therapy, and reads Tarot (among other accomplishments). Since starting on the magickal/spiritual path decades ago, she has not been idle.

Wednesday we’ll be asking her about the Egyptian Paganism

October 7, 2015. Cassius DAESH The Julian Society http://tobtr.com/s/7983271

The Julian Society is a modern pagan group started by Marcus Cassius Julianus to honour the Emperor Julian the Blessed’s vision of a world where all faiths were accepted. (He is known as the last pagan Emperor of Rome.) In a world where the DAESH can openly tear down and destroy the artworks of ancient civilizations because they represent alternative religions- even though they are long dead; and even in the USA people can attempt to make the law be based on their personal religious beliefs, we need the vision and philosophy of Julian more than ever.

Please join Tchipakkan and Marcus (aka Will Bradford) as they discuss religious diversity and tolerance in both the ancient and modern worlds.

To get a preview of the discussion, here’s an essay M Cassius posted on the Julian Society yahoo group after the destruction of the Temple of Bel:

Sheri will be doing a workshop at Changing Times-Changing Worlds on Ritual Baking, and we’ll be talking about how to make your kitchen a magickal place, how to make your food work for you, what’s she’s been up to recently and what’s on the menu as we move into the cold dark of the year.

October 28, 2015 Thor Halvorsen Ancestor Worship http://tobtr.com/s/8032745

 Death/Ancestral workshop with Thor Halvorsen

Communing with your Ancestors- it’s not just for Halloween! On the other hand, this is the time of the year when “the veil thins” and it’s a great time for dumb suppers and reaching out to your beloved dead. From the Day of the Dead (as celebrated in Mexico) to Dumb suppers in the Celtic traditions, from Shinto to Africa, humans communicate with those of their bloodlines, both close and distant- we hope for our mutual benefit.

My guest, Thor Halvorsen is a Deaf, Norwegian-Welsh, Poet, Musician, Pagan, Wiccan, ” computer-tinkin’-sci-fi fella”; he was a Military Brat, lived in Korea and Germany (traveled around a bit of Europe too), is Clergy, Educational Interpreter, Poet, Reader of Runes and Tarot, Deaf Educator, Deaf Professional, & Musician (plays Mandolin).

He has a fond appreciation for history, mythology, religion and social structure and sociology, and for the Deaf culture, especially in regards to the Education of the Deaf. He’s an Elder First Degree, Coven of Amber Heart, Coven of Amber Rose Tradition. His Path of Study is Norse, Welsh (Mostly Norse).
In a few weeks he’ll be teaching a workshop on this subject at the Changing Times-Changing Worlds Conference, but Wednesday you can get a preview (or if you aren’t in the New England area the second weekend of November).

We’ll be talking about near-death, death itself, and Ancestral Veneration, also discussing the need for more people in the fields to acknowledge the need for work in this area, especially relating to grief, terminal long-term illnesses, and also how to work within belief systems, so that a person’s religious beliefs are honored. We’ll discuss the ways in which we modern folk can approach Ancestral Veneration, the ways which connection can be achieved, and talk about techniques to meet an ancestor.

November 4, 2015. Practical Empath Catherine Kane

On November 4th, Catherine Kane will be appearing from 8-9 pm on the New Normal with Tchipakkan on http://liveparanormal.com/

We’re talking about psychic empaths, those of us who are extra tuned in to the feelings and emotional vibes of others. It’s a lovely gift but, while you’re born with the gift, you’re not born with the skills you need to manage it. Without those skills, psychic empathy can be an overwhelming experience.

We’ll be talking about those skills- about how to control how much psychic energy you take in, how to ground out energy you don’t want and what to do with your gift, amongst other things. We’ll also talk about the people who care about empaths and how they can support their psychic.

November 11, 2015 What would you include in a Paranomal Conference?   with Jane Sibley

Jane T. Sibley, Ph.D., is a traditional Norse practitioner and a specialist in Norse folklore and  runes.  She has taught at many Pagan events for decades, MithraCon, a conference on Mithraism and other cults in the Roman Empire.

This weekend in Northampton Mass, there will be a conference for all things Paranormal: Changing Times-Changing Worlds. Changing Times-Changing Worlds is a conference for exploration of metaphysical/paranormal/supernatural/mystical/occult/psychic topics including energy healing, divination, spiritual practice and folklore, as well as creating connections between the many groups that study and practice in these areas. Our aim is to break down barriers to acceptance and communication, and advance our knowledge of the paranormal and spiritual. At this conference we explore all things metaphysical: healing, divination, energy work, manifestation, spiritual practices, folklore, and all the many parts of the whole that make up life.

My guest this week is my co-chair, Jane Sibley. Five years ago we decided that since New England didn’t have a conference of this type we’d just do one ourselves. Everyone we know does some of this (reiki, dowsing, soothsaying, shamanism, etc.), but it’s all swept under the rug. We’re not supposed to talk about it in case people thing we’re nuts. But if we don’t start talking about it, how will we advance our knowledge? If we don’t share our discoveries, how will we be able to build on what has already been done? We’re like people working on a secret project- each only able to see their little part. So we decided to do it, and invite everyone: Witches and scientists, pagans and new agers, dowsers and mediums, healers and shaman. http://tobtr.com/s/8066529

November 18, 2015. Crystal Grids Maryalyce Merrit

A crystal grid is a predefined set of multiple crystals arranged in a harmonic sacred geometric relationship.  This combination and arrangement of crystals works synergistic to converts and focuses the external energy which impinges upon it in a variety of forms (e.g. sound, light, electromagnetism) into a unified energy field tuned to a particular need or requirement.  The unified energy field that is created allows for vibrational interactions of crystal energies with the aura, spirit, and mind of the human body consistent with the prescribed healing and wellness design. November 25, 2015. Sha Blackburn talks about the Magick of Days  moved to next week

There’s a joke that it’s good to have an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out. Tonight we’ll be talking about the difference between not refusing to believe the evidence in front of your eyes, and believing everything that supports your argument.

We’ll also talk about the way we manage to alienate each other by disparaging other groups and how this “tribal” aspect of various communities has held back progress because you can’t learn useful and valuable information and techniques from someone you’ve disrespected.

December 2, 2015  Sha Blackburn the Loonwitch http://tobtr.com/s/8115093

December 16, 2015. War on Christmas? Pagan Origins? Secularism? Political Correctness? http://tobtr.com/s/8161521

What a thing to be arguing about! Let’s have some discussions about how to find a way we can share this time in a positive way.

I’m a pagan, but I love the holidays. I love the trees, the music, the cookies (especially the cookies) the colored lights, gathering of friends. I like A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life, and the way so many people open their hearts to joy, and to giving. I don’t like the stress, and the over-spending on things we don’t want, and the way pushing too hard to be happy can make us feel even lonelier sometimes. But I’m a bit wierded out by this “War on Christmas” concept. Yes, I realize that Joshua Feuerstein is an internet preacher who apparently repeatedly comes up with weird things to rant about, not only that Starbucks seasonal cup design isn’t Christian enough for his idea. I look at all these snow scenes and wonder why the rest of the country doesn’t get annoyed about the whole Northern Idyll, when sleighs and snowmen were never part of their Christmases.

I recognize the value of not wrapping the whole country up in a big white Christian package and ignoring and marginalizing all the people who don’t fit into those images. But we’re still feeling our way into a more balanced multi-culturalism. One hears stories about Churches being told not to put up their nativity scenes, and schools having to “generic down” their holiday celebrations- even though the vast majority of the kids are Christian. It feels like when they say “one of the kids is allergic to peanuts, so no one can bring PB&J sandwiches for lunch in case he wants to trade with you.” Really? At the same time my pagan sites are full of stories about how Christianity stole most of its traditions from us, and how all their symbols are really pagan. They seem to want to rub people’s noses in their research, even though more research would show that most of the time these borrowings were entirely intentional and acceptable. Symbols, being what they are, are capable of many layers of meaning, and even having the meaning shift. It happens all the time.

So how can we live together amicably? If we can’t do it during the holidays, when can we?

“In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season;

the Christians called it ‘Christmas’ and went to church;

the Jews called it ‘Hanukkah’ and went to synagogue;

the atheists went to parties and drank.

People passing each other on the street would say ‘Merry Christmas!’ or ‘Happy Hanukkah!’ or (to the atheists) ‘Look out for the wall!’”

~ Dave Barry
Maybe there’s nothing we can do, but maybe we can figure out what is underlying the discomfort we are feeling, and find a way where we participate in a pluralistic society without unintentionally offending others. Celebrate each other’s joy.
